Born and raised in San Francisco, California James Henry displayed an early talent for music. He first learned to play drums in his church. His first job playing drums with his neighborhood friends assured him that he wanted to make music his career. At 17 James played with Art Blakely at Keystone corner in San Francisco further motivating him to reach for higher levels of playing. Influenced and inspired by the likes of Herbie Hancock, Bill Summers, Mongo Santa Maria, James Brown, Sly Stone, George Howard, Taj Mahal and Earth Wind and Fire his musical talents soared.
James went on to play with many successful bands in the Bay Area as he pursued his professional career and in addition he also wrote TV film scores. He toured the USA and the world extensively with Warner Brothers recording artist Pablo Cruise. James had previously worked with great artists like Rick James, Taj Mahal, Robert Ford, Sly Stone, Buddy Miles, Merl Saunders, Vix and Pete Escovido.
